Certified Diabetes Educator Guidelines (PDF)

This 19-page document describes guidelines that certified diabetes educators at Gateway Community Health Center in Laredo TX are trained to follow when treating people with diabetes. The guidelines were developed specifically for the Gateway program, but particulars can be tailored for use at different sites. Included are sections on newly diagnosed diabetes, nephropathy, complications, hypertension, goal setting, and self management.
